Located in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Spruce Cliff is an inner city neighborhood bounded by CPR Tracks and the Bow River to the north, Shaganappi Golf Course and 33rd Street W to the east, Bow Trail to the south and 37th Street W to the west.

Annexed in 1910, Spruce Cliff is established as a community in 1950. The neighborhood lies on a escarpment which makes it a great community for sight-seeing for it offers stunning views of the Calgary skyline and the Bow River Valley. This is one of the reasons why a lot of Calgarians wanted to live in this community. As of 2006, Spruce Cliff already has a population of nearly 3,000 resident living in 381 single family homes and 912 condo/townhouse units. Single family homes are older homes on large lots with prices starting in low $300,000. Renters make up the 65% of the population residing to some of the low-rise and high-rise condominiums in the neighborhood.

Spruce Cliff is home to a lot of amazing things. Aside from the great views of the city and the valley, you can also find in the community the Spruce Cliff Shopping Centre which offers a great shopping getaway place. If you want a more cultured trip, you can visit the Wildflower Arts Centre and if you want to catch the latest movie, you can to the multiplex cinema of Westhills nearby. Walking, running and taking a bike ride is great family and friends bonding activity at the nearby recreational pathway system.
The lively community centre of Spruce Cliff is another venue for a lot of fun things. The Spruce Cliff Community Association holds the seniors’ group, dowser’s society and lapidary club meetings here. The association also organizes events such as a Greek Festival and a Stampede Breakfast which are great for social gatherings. Adjacent to the community centres are the tennis courts and sports/playfields where one can play tennis and other outdoor sports.
Golf enthusiasts will surely love the fact that Spruce Cliff is just a walking distance to two golf courses in the city. One is on the northern edge and the other on the southern edge of the community. Toboggan hils and mountain bike trails can be accessed at the Bow River recreational pathway system nearby. In addition, the Optimist Park on Sarcee Trail offers an indoor ice arena and the 29th Street at 17th Avenue offers an indoor pool.
